This was a game that both teams needed to win and the match started at a pace that reflected the importance of the game to each team. Swindon kicked off but the Bassett midfielders won the ball back off them and launched an attach of their own the resulting goal kick led to a Swindon attack which culminated with a cross whipped in from the right which hit the side netting. A further ten minutes passed with 50 – 50 possession when the lively Kirsty Hulse slipped the perfect pass through to Natasha Burson who calmly chipped the goalkeeper from outside the area. 1 – 0 to Bassett. The keenly contested affair continued and with enthusiasm boiling over the Referee had a word with Bassett's Tash Burson to calm down. The next attack came from Swindon when their No. 4 broke through Bassett's off side trap and was left one on one with the keeper Jodie Steenaart who came quickly of her line and spread herself well to block the ensuing Swindon shot. Bassett went further ahead when the influential Hulse once again split the town defence with a pass through to Jan Reynolds who finished well with her left foot to score her first goal of the season.

Steenaart made another fine save just before the break when a last ditched tackle from Netti Wyness almost turned Swindon's shot into her own goal. Half time 2 – 0 to Bassett.

The second half saw Swindon mount the pressure to get back into the game but a stubborn Bassett defence restricted Swindon to less than a handful of chances with no real shots on goal. As the match went on it became a little untidy and there were bookings for Stacey (Bassett) late tackle Jan Reynolds (Bassett) Dissent Sam Quinn (Swindon) foul. Bassett began regain control of the game and ran out 2 – 0 winners at the final whistle.
