Bassett return to winning ways

Wootton Bassett travelled to Clevedon on Sun 2 Nov and got back to winning ways with two goals in each half of a very one sided game in which but for missed chances and some fine saves by Steph Gadd in the Clevedon Goal the score would have been much higher. However after losing their last league game Bassett started tentatively with shots from the lively Catherine Reid shooting high and wide on several occasion and in fact it was Clevedon who came the closes to scoring in the early stages when Jodi Steenaart in the Bassett goal could only punch away a corner and it was only after several shots in the melee that followed that Bassett finally cleared the Ball. It was not until 38th minute that Bassett broke to deadlock when they were awarded an penalty when Kirsty Hulse had her heel clipped when she burst into the box and the trip denied her the goal that looked a certainty. The penalty was converted by Natasha Burson who five minute later scored her second with a fine shot which beat the diving keeper.

The second half was much more one sided and Bassett virtually camped out in Clevedon half and it was only a matter of time before Basset extended their league and after more missed chances Emma Willams crossed the ball from the right which was converted at the back post by Kirsty Hulse. Bassett's final goal came direct from a free kick when Catherine Reid gave the keeper no chance with a shot which went beyond the keeper into the top right hand corner.
