Wootton Bassett Town Ladies fell to their first defeat of the season going down 2 -1 away to Keynsham Town. Keynsham piled on the pressure from the start their young side passing the ball around well caused Bassett several problems stretching their defence to the limits. Bassett however had the first clear chance when Emma Williams was put through clear one on one with the keeper but shot wide. Keysham however continued to press Bassett and took the lead 1 – 0 which with out a tremendous display of Goal Keeping by Jodi Steenaart in the Bassett goal the half time score line of 1 – 0 to Keynsham could have been much worse.

After the break Bassett played a little better but Keynsham continued to create chances and only a fine double save from Steenaart kept it at 1 – 0 to Keysham however Bassett did not create any clear chance from the better play and Keynsham went further ahead 2 – 0. Bassett made a substitution with 20 minutes to go introducing Susan Shaw as an extra striker and mounted the first period of sustained pressure on the Keynsham goal and when Catherine Reid pulled one back Bassett looked most likely to score again but time ran out for them and despite their late pressure were left to consider what went wrong. ?
