Winning again

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 14 Girls faced bottom side Trowbridge Wanderers Lionesses at home on Saturday in their quest to finish at the top of the North Wilts League Division One table.

The girls didn't make a great start as they found themselves one down in the first 15 seconds after a couple of mistakes. They soon found themselves lucky not to be two behind as Trowbridge steered a shot just wide of the target.

Things started looking up when Sienna Matthews stepped up with a brilliant strike to make the score 1-1.

Not long after, she delivered for her team yet again, her shot deflecting off the opposition and into the net, putting Bassett ahead.

The Blues gained momentum from this and went on to score another two goals - one from Sienna, who completed her first half hat trick, and Alisa Allan.

Alisa was unlucky not to score a second when her strike rattled the crossbar.

The Blues were 4-1 up at half time but could have been about 10 ahead if they had netted some early chances, and the girls knew they could do better.

Bassett were looking stronger in the second half and put out a much better performance, securing another three goals from Ava Hall, Poppy Notton-Barrett and Sienna and sealing off a 7-1 victory.

The Blues clinched another crucial 3 points with not many games of the season left to go. Player of the match was awarded to Maya by both the parents and coaches for an excellent performance.
