A game of two halves

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Blue took on top of the league Robins White at home today.

Robins, with the wind and the slope, showed their intent in the first minute marauding through to be denied by the Bassett keeper.

Bassett were then inches away from taking a surprise second minute lead with a penalty effort narrowly going wide and over.

From then on the first halve was almost all Robins, the Robins number nine dancing through the Bassett defence to then chip the keeper 1-0, Robins after 5 minutes.

On 8 minutes Bassetts keeper mistimed a clearance and the Robins slotted in again 2-0.

On 20 minutes a close range effort from Robins was mistimed allowing the Bassett keeper to push over the bar.

On 23 minutes a Robins striker made it 3-0 with a great scorpion style kick going in off the post.

Bassett's defence and midfield then did well to hold out against the wind and slope until half time, 3-0.

Second half:

38 minutes: Sam going close with a twenty yard lob that that unfortunately bounced over the cross bar.

39 minutes Robbie testing the keeper from range.

40 minutes Noah forcing another good save from the keeper.

42 minutes Beau gets the break through with a close range effort 3-1.

53 minutes Robins scored with a long range speculative effort 4-1.

55 minutes Robins header just wide.

56 minutes Noah great effort from range.

58 minutes Thomas effort whistles passed the far post.

59 minutes Beau from close range makes it 4-2.

60 minutes Beau again makes it 4-3, some great combination play with Thomas throughout the second half paying off.

67 minutes Beau slots into the top corner 4-4!!!

69 minutes Thomas with a great headed effort just over.

70 minutes the whistle should go for full time.

72 minutes the Robins No 9 is off again and with the last kick of the game makes it 5-4 to Robins.

Bassett dominated the second half and made top of the table look second rate. If they play like that no one can beat them.
