Bassett start 2020 with defeat on the road

A challenging road trip against top of the table FC Salisbury United ended with a last minute winner for the home side.

Bassett started the game well keeping the ball nicely without really coursing the home side any problems. Only a long range effort from Robbie Cinqueqrani and a snap shot from Beau Hicks both of target was all the boys had to show In a hard fought first half.

In the 2nd half Bassett took the lead when a free kick from Robbie Cinqueqrani was volleyed home by Finley Hyde.

For 10 minutes after going ahead Bassett looked in control with midfielder Sam Smith showed some nice touches.

Then with the home team getting back into the game they got a deserved equaliser when a shot from outside the box was just to high for Tom Davis to reach.

The boys with no training for three weeks ran out of steam in the late stages, and with time running out a long throw in was aloud to bounce in the penalty area by three Bassett defenders only for a Salisbury forward to react to score with time running out.

A tough defeat for the boys to take, but they can take heart from a battling performance. With league leaders Swindon Robins up next at home the boys will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
