05 Apr 2015 - Forest of Dean Ladies (H)
Wootton Bassett Ladies secured their second win against Forest of Dean Ladies in as many weeks with a 4-0 win at home on Easter Sunday. The win continues the ladies unbeaten run of five games meaning they have now only lost one game in the 11 since the turn of the year.
Laura Gammon opened the scoring after some good passing play from the backs and through to midfield. Gammon slotted calmly past the oncoming keeper to score her first since November. She was also instrumental in Bassett's second goal as she chipped through a lovely ball over the Forest of Dean defence for fellow striker Lisa Curtis to run onto. Good strength from Curtis took her past the centre back and a good strike beat the keeper.
Forest of Dean started to press before the break, but didn't cause the Bassett defence too many problems and Bassett looked good for their 2-0 lead.
The hosts continued to control the game from the start of the second half. Great passing play created plenty of chances for. Defender and captain Laura Jefferies eventually put the game out of reach of Forest of Dean when she swung the ball straight in from a corner for her fifth of the season.
An Emily Bogg strike from outside the box then made it four for Bassett Ladies in their penultimate game of the season.
The win sees them stay in fourth spot in the Gloucestershire County Women's League only a point behind Forest of Dean. The Ladies face AEK Boco away in their final game of the season on 10th May and have friendlies lined up against Swindon Town Development and Highworth before then.
