Ladies share spoils with Longlevens

Wootton Bassett Town Ladies shared the points with visitors Longlevens in their latest league game in Division One of the Gloucestershire Women's League.

The Ladies were disappointed not to have taken all 3 points from the Gloucester-based team in a game they needed to win to make sure of a top 4 finish.

Bassett dominated the game and kept possession for long periods, which finally paid off just before the break when Sam Wood stepped up to take the free-kick awarded on the left just outside the box. The sweetly struck free-kick looped into the far top corner out of the reach of the keeper to see Bassett take a deserved lead.

The home team pressed after the break looking to extend the lead and some good passing moves saw them continue to attack the Longlevens goal. A period of good pressure from the visitors followed as they won 2 corners in quick succession, the second proving vital in securing the equaliser as Bassett struggled to clear their lines.

Bassett once again regained composure and continued to press high up the field, but were unable to find a way through the visitors' defence. The final minutes were end to end with both teams searching for the winner, but a sound defensive display from the Bassett back four, including joint players of the match Jenny Galvin and Sophie Harper, kept Longlevens at bay.
