Sunday 19th April 2009 - Shaw (A)

It was a beautiful afternoon, and conditions were perfectly set for a game of football between the top 2 in the Division. And with Shaw being unbeaten in 17 league games, we knew we had a mountainous task ahead.

The game started, and was fairly evenly poised with neither team really giving away too much. Although WBTFC did appear to gain the slight edge, overcoming the home side with greater commitment. The tactical changes that were made seemed to contain the attacking prowess of Shaw. The importance of keeping our composure and concentration was a major key, and it was important to continue throughout the 80 minutes. Half-time approached, and the score-line still remained 0-0.

Both teams started the second half eager to gain dominance. And Shaw did begin to display glimpses of their attacking ability. Early on during a corner, we very nearly capitalised on a loose ball in the box, but were unable to convert. We advanced in waves, but we seemed intent on picking an extra pass!!! 10 minutes on we gained a throw into their last third, a superb long throw was delivered into the box it was met by a flick on to the back post, where a scramble began, and was eventually poked into the net by Connor Clark. This was where the hard work began, and the lads didn`t disappoint. Their mental attitude and ability, met with the belief in each other was rewarded with a well deserved 1-0 victory

Well done lads, game of the season!
