Two goals in final three minutes dash Wroughton’s final hopes

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 1st May 2007

A flurry of goals in the final five minutes saw Bassett come out on top.

After Wroughton's Ryan Rawlins had equalised an earlier Arron Dale strike with four minutes to go, Bassett quickly bagged two of their own as Sam Lowkis and Tyler Amos both found the back of the net to settle the game.

The second half was a vast contrast to the dour opening 30 minutes, which saw both defences hold firm, limiting each other to just half chances.

Bassett opened the second period quickly and came close a minute in when Fraser Evans' 18-yard effort was well dealt with by Jacob Good.

Four minutes later a deep cross from Dale took a wicked bounce in front of 'keeper Good and struck the bar before going over.

In the 37th minute Callum Meehan crossed in from the left, which was not dealt with by the Wroughton defence allowing Ben Mattick to get his head on the ball but Good once again was there to make a point blank save.

Dale gave Bassett the lead in the 47th minute. Amos whipped in a corner to the front post which fell to man of the match Evans.

The burly midfielder pulled the ball back to Lowkis, who struck a low drive from the edge of the box. Good was unable to hold onto the effort though and Dale popped up at the far post to poke home.

Only moments earlier a great saving tackle from Oliver Rigby had denied Mattick after swift build up play between Evans and Dale.

With four minutes to go Wroughton grabbed themselves an equaliser through Rawlins. The midfielder lobbed Viveash from the edge of the box with a first time effort after an Osei shot had been blocked.

Less than a minute later Evans pulled the ball back to Dale and his dink over the top was met with a deft glancing header from Lowkis which nestled into the bottom left corner.

Amos then completed the scoring in injury time. Dale crossed in from the right and after heading the ball down, Amos shot powerfully on the bounce from 15 yards into the top right corner.
