Dreary game ends in a draw

Playing on a small pitch, Bassett took time to settle and the first 15 minutes saw both teams playing tight football, neither side looking likely to score. Against the run of play, the ball was passed to MacLeod on the left wing, he beat the defender and fired in a shot which went through the keepers hands - 1-0 to Bassett. Ten minutes later saw another good move by Bassett ending with White scoring a good goal at close range - 2-0 to Bassett. Bassett then relaxed and from a poor goal kick Sanford replied with a well taken goal making it 2-1. Close to half time, Bassett's slack marking allowed Sanford to score again for the equaliser. Half-time 2-2.

Second half started much as the first half with neither team making much headway. A long pass from deep inside the Sanford half was chased. Twine in the Bassett goal hesitated and the Sanford attacker continued his run and fired past him to take the lead, 2-3. Bassett never looked much like salvaging a point from a rather dreary game until about five minutes from the end when good close play on the Bassett right saw Bell slide the ball home from fairly close range for the equaliser making it 3-3. Bassett must learn to be more aggressive in their play and realise that results can only be obtained by hard work. Final score 3-3.
