Youth Section Review: Impressive Under 18 Yellows advance in Youth Cup

Sunday 4th October 2026

It was another productive Sunday for Royal Wootton Bassett Town's youth section sides, with six wins from eight games and plenty of goals to celebrate.

The Under 18 Yellows produced the standout result of the afternoon, racing to a superb 9-2 victory over Wanborough Junior Black in the second round of the Wiltshire Youth Cup. The Yellows were in devastating attacking form, scoring nine times to book their place in the last sixteen in emphatic fashion.

There was another big home win for the Under 13 Yellows, who continued their strong start to the campaign with a 6-1 victory over Liden Community Wolverines in North Wilts League Division Four. The result gives Bassett two wins from their opening three league games.

The Under 16 Blues also made convincing progress in the North Wilts League Cup, beating Ferndale Rodbourne 5-1 in the second round. Five goals - including four for Rudy Iles-Jones - and an impressive all-round display saw the Blues comfortably through to the next stage.

The goals continued for the Under 13 Blues, who recorded an excellent 5-1 away victory at Croft Junior Blue in North Wilts League Division Two. It was a strong performance on the road and another encouraging result for a side looking to establish themselves near the top of the division.

The Under 12 Blues kept a clean sheet as they comfortably defeated AFC Corsham Jaguars 4-0 in North Wilts League Division One. Four different goals weren't necessary for the points, but the combination of a strong attacking display and defensive shutout made for another impressive afternoon as they recorded their first league win of the season.

The Under 15 Yellows were involved in a more closely fought contest, eventually coming out on top 4-2 against Draycott Evolution Mavericks in North Wilts League Division Three. The victory gives the Yellows three wins from their opening five league matches and keeps them firmly among the early pace-setters.

It was a tougher afternoon for the Under 18 Blues, who exited the Wiltshire Youth Cup after a 4-1 defeat away to Swindon Supermarine White. They will now look to return to league action and put the cup disappointment behind them.

The Under 16 Yellows also suffered cup disappointment, going down 2-1 away at Purton Youth Wolves in the second round of the North Wilts League Cup. It was a narrow defeat in a closely contested game, with Bassett unable to find the equaliser.
