One FINAL game

In our final game of the season we hosted title contenders Abbeymeads in a tough game. Our final home game of the season saw us fall to an unexpected defeat as the Abbeymead striker beat the offside trap to slot past Ruby and their second came from Bassett being guilty of ball watching as the on rushing midfielder on the volley fires home for two.

Abbeymeads continued their strong start as their striker was able to hit the post with her effort however she was deemed offside. Bassett were able to ride out to the end of the half but managed to create barely any chances in the first 30mins.

Half time 2-0

Bassett had a much better start to the second half after a slight change of formation saw Aoife drives through the Abbeymead defence and her strike is saved by the keeper and as the ball bounces towards the back post Daisy is ready to pounce only for the keeper to make another tremendous save to keep the score at 2-0. Shortly afterwards Bassett found themselves 3-0 down as the strikers drives through after a mix up at the back and the striker finishes.

Bassett's frontline continued to up the pressure for Abbeymeads as Aoife was able to find Daisy whose strike was straight at the keeper. But sadly a foul off the ball isn't given and the ball lands to the striker who finishes for Abbeymeads which is harsh on Bassett as they had been pushing hard for a goal.

This spell of the game then gave Abbeymeads opportunities and Bass had to rely on Ruby to keep the scores low as the striker was in on goal twice and fired over and at Ruby who was required to save with her

But it was Bassett who would score next after some great play from a throw saw Daisy's delivery spilled by the keeper and Elsie was at home to fire into the top corner but in the last kick of the game Bassett were again guilty of ball watching as a throw in is put into the box and lands at the players feet back post unmarked and she is able to slot home for 5-1.

Harsh end for Bassett who pushed for a goal and were too guilty at times of ball watching something to continue working on over the season break.
