A Sloppy Start Cost Bassett

Sadly a sloppy start in the first 15mins cost Bassett this morning, as the hosts took control of the game. Their first came from a corner Bassett couldn't clear and a somewhat weak shot managed to evade Chloe through her second barrier. Marlborough's second came from their best player who broke through and edged Holly in a one on one to fire past Parkin. A further two goals from poor marking and a long range effort succumbed Bassett to a poor 15.

Their second quarter was much greater after a lengthy chat with the managers. With Bassett playing some much better football. Marlborough managed to Nick another after a ball is crossed into the area and the striker just nips in ahead of an on rushing Parkin.

Our best 15 of the game came in the third quarter where we were able to combine some chances together. Great play between Mason, Hughes and Warwick got us up the pitch but the resilient defending from Marlborough stopped us on our tracks.

As Bassett were tiring Marlborough began to over run us with by far their best player causing the problems she added another goal but also managed to assist in the final two, to see the goal finish 9-0. After a sloppy start Bassett grew into the fans but on this particular day never able to return from a poor start. A dominant defensive display from Holly saw her deservedly get POTM for this week but Bassett will need to improve in order to get back to winning ways.
