Bassett 0 - 1

As with last week, Wootton Bassett didn't let the goal get them down and continued to press forward and some tricky footwork on the edge of the Stratton box enabled Zach to get his shot off but was just wide. Todd came close with a header from an excellent corner from Jordan and shortly after made a lovely pass across the opposition box to Nic who passed nicely back to Todd who shot narrowly over the bar. On 20 minutes, Stratton broke from defence and a missed clearance from James let the chasing Stratton forward in for a simple goal.

Bassett 0 - 2

Wootton Bassett came on strong again from the restart and within minutes Zak's strike was cleared off the Stratton line and Brad was there to score from the loose ball.

Bassett 1 - 2

Bassett were piling on the pressure now and Stratton were struggling to get the ball out of their half, and the pressure paid dividends when another lovely corner from Jordan was met with a superb volley from Nic into the top corner.

Bassett 2 - 2

However, Stratton were not to be outdone and a nice passing move saw them slice through the Bassett defence to put themselves back into the lead.

Bassett 2 - 3

For a couple of minutes it seemed either side could score next but yet another fantastic corner from Jordan just before half time met with an almost carbon-copy volley from Nic to level the scores again.

Half Time 3 - 3

Zach took a turn between the sticks for the second half and early on in the second half came out well to cover a Stratton attack and then made a great save low to his right from the follow-up shot. On 15 minutes a lovely weighted pass through the midfield from Ollie found Zak who took his first goal for Bassett well on his debut.

Bassett 4 - 3

A few minutes later Nic completed a superb hat-trick. James passed to Justin who worked hard to make space before passing to Nic who buried his shot.

Bassett 5 - 3

Straight from the restart the ball fell to the ever-busy Grant who made a nice little run and pass to Justin who scored confidently.

Bassett 6 - 3

Justin made a great interception in midfield and was able to breakaway through the Stratton defence but his resulting shot was well saved. Stratton were not deterred and some fierce battling in midfield by Matthew and Ollie was required to break up their advances. Grant was continuing to work hard and his efforts put Zach through and his shot was just wide. On 30 minutes James split the Stratton defence with a pass thorough to Zak who struck well to take his second of the match.

Bassett 7 - 3

I didn't see the eighth goal as I was still making notes on the seventh but suffice to say that Zak was able to complete his debut hat-trick straight from the restart.

Result Wootton Bassett Whites 8 Stratton Youth 3

Another confident display by all of the boys and the neat passing play is paying dividends in breaking down opposition defences. 2 great hat-tricks for Nic and Zak were impressive enough but Man Of The Match was awarded to Jordan for the consistently great corners that put so much pressure on the Stratton defences and resulted in several of the Wootton Bassett goals. Managers comments: Another fantastic game where everyone worked well together. Also well done to the new members of our team who all had a great game. A well deesrved win. Wootton Bassett Whites : Zach Bunce, Ollie Cameron, James Evans, Todd Goddard, Justin Hemedy (Capt - 1), Jordan Langford, Grant Moynihan, Matthew Nicholls, Brad Sealey (1), Nic Thompson (3), Zak Thompson (3)
