16 Dec 2012 - Swindon Centurions (A)

1st Half

We won the toss, so kicked off first. There was some good defending by Mollie early in this half, but the play seemed quite equal. We appeared to be a bit weak up front and were taking a while to warm up and get into the game. There was a powerful shot by Will, which unfortunately for him the Centurions defense were ready to block. Tom Lawrence was the next unlucky player, with a shot that just tipped over the top of the net. There was some good defending from Will when Centurion started to look strong. He then followed this up with an excellent run up the pitch, with shot towards goal that Tom Warren managed to secure into the back of the net. Tom Warren then took the ball up the line and there was a bit of a muddle and their defender knocked it into our goal. Centurion then turned the game around and scored a goal. There was a patch where Will seemed to be battling against 3 players and although he held his own, they eventually won him down. Tom Lawrence had another couple of shots at goal, the power behind the ball was incredibly but he wasn't awarded with a goal. Half time came with the score 2-1 to us.

2nd Half

Centurion came back fighting and got a goal quickly in the 2nd half, they did appear to be the stronger side and were determined that we weren't going to score. We were awarded a penalty which Tom Lawrence took, the Centurion defense stood strong and the rebound landed back at Tom Lawrence who had an unlucky chip over the top of the net. Centurion then scored another but Will had a brilliant run up the pitch but again luck wasn't on our side and he couldn't get that goal. There was then some fabulous team work by Tom Lawrence who set the ball up for Will to score. Tom Warren then had a fab run up the pitch and again was awarded a goal. Tom Lawrence then took a corner, which Tom Warren (excellently placed) headed into the goal. It then got a bit messy and there was a lot of passing back and forth around the pitch. Centurion were unlucky not to get another goal and we ended the game 4-3.
