12 Sep 2012 - FC Abbey Meads Youth (A)

1st Half
We started off with a determined streak with attacks on the goal by Mickey & Tom Warren. We were incredibly unlucky at one stage, where Mickey shot at the goal it rebounded and Tom Warren was unlucky not to score. But within 5 minutes of the game Tom Lawrence fired a shot into the goal. There was a lot of good play in the midfield between Tom W, William & Mickey and we kept up with the pressure. After another attempt at goal we were awarded a corner and wham – Tom Lawrence scored another. We were on a high but perhaps we took the foot off the pedal a bit as Abbeymeads managed to get one past our substitute goalie. Although how they managed to get past the strong defending wall of Molly & James is beyond me.

2nd Half
We again seemed the stronger side at the beginning of this half, but we just couldn't get that ball across their goal line, there were many attempts!! There were some good passes and Tom W made some good blocking attempts. There was a good run down the right wing by Tom Lawrence but unfortunately it wasn't awarded with a goal. Dylan & Kate came on and the chances were there to score but it just didn't happen. Out of nowhere Abbeymeads broke through all our defenses and put Ben under a lot of pressure. Ben responded magnificently, reading where the ball was going and making sure he was there to stop it. For a little chap he covers a lot of space. Unfortunately Abbeymeads were determined to score and they got their 2nd goal to draw level with us. A quick turnaround and they were back and scored a 3rd goal. We valiantly tried to level the score but that whistle blew and we ended up losing 2-3.
