09 Dec 2012 - Lydiard Youth Black (H)

1st Half

We started the game with 6 players and Will soon showed that we were determined to fight, as he had 2 near misses at goal early in this half. Lydiard then had a good run down the pitch but were tackled by Will. Lydiard again showed that they weren't taking any prisoners in this game and took a shot at goal, we were incredibly lucky that it didn't go in the net. Dec then took a shot at goal but unfortunately there wasn't his usual power behind the ball and the goal keeper saved it. Lydiard then scored but Dec & Will were not going to be stopped and after some excellent passing between the two of them, Will easily kicked the ball into the net. Again this pairing performed and following a good throw in from Dec, Will neatly put the ball into the back of the ball again. Unfortunately Lydiard were determined and leveled the scored. We then went down to 5 players and the team did really well but Lydiard scored a fantastic goal.

2nd Half

We came back on with 6 players and there was a slight shift around with the players. Again Will seemed to be everywhere and was helped along the way by some solid tackling by James and Fabio. With James not playing in defense, we saw a different player, who was getting stuck in and putting a lot of power behind the ball. We gave away a penalty but Ben stood his ground and made an excellent save, reading the play of the ball well. This was followed by another save. We then had a good stretch of play, getting the ball down to the goal but we weren't rewarded with a goal. There was then a minimum of 5 minutes where Lydiard were took several corners and each time a member of our team kicked the ball out, fabulous defending but very tense for the sidelines. Eventually there was a goal kick awarded and off we went again. Unfortunately Lydiard wanted to pay us back for the score last week and managed to get another goal

The final score was 4-2
