06 Nov 2011 - Malmesbury Youth (A)

Another difficult match today - this time in the cup. It was always going to be tricky with Malmesbury winning every match they have played this season and they did indeed look a decent side. We battled well and matched then for a while but they got on top towards the end of the half and went in 3:0

Going forward we looked pretty good with some nice play right from our defence. Joe was making some good tuens and causing a few problems but we couldn't get a goal.

We were eventually rewarded for our good efforts with a nice goal to make it 6:1, Joe was put through and just beat the keeper to the ball. There was a scramble and the ball fell to Ashley who put a lovely shot into the back of the net.

Malmesbury eventually went out 7:1 winners and deservedly so. I asked the players to make sure they had at least one good pice of play to look back on with pride later and I think they all managed that. The opposition manager picked Sam as our man of the match after he made some good saves towards the end and never gave up.
