From the kick off Bassett looked like the better team and almost scored within the first two minutes, a great ball from Josh W found Tyler who took the ball around one defender and shoots, the Croft goal keeper saves. Bassett were on top of the game pushing Croft back into their own half. Fraser, supporting a new hair style, passed to Josh W who cuts back in side and shoots again its saved. Then Sam gets into the act and shoots after receiving a great through ball from Ben, but again it's saved. Then a break through, Arron showing some class cuts back inside from the right wing, beating two defenders and shoots, this time the ball hits the back of the net. Bassett take the lead. The game was all Bassett as the players start to push forward in droves; a great ball from Regan finds Josh W, Josh shoots giving Bassett their second goal. Fraser finds Sam, Sam works the space running around a Croft defender, and shoots but the shot is just wide. Then against the run of play Croft break finding a gap between Jack and Regan, Joe runs out of his goal to make the save, which must be said was a brave move. Jake as right back was defending well but also played some very good long balls down the wing for Ben and Arron to run onto. Bassett break and Arron picks out Ben who's running goal bound, Ben shoots and scores. Bassett are now three up and our cruise control has just been switched on. Bassett were passing the ball better today, but I still feel we lacked width on some occasions which is our strength. Josh W, takes the ball down the left wing, and passes the ball to Sam, Sam lays the ball off to Fraser who shoots and finds the bottom corner of the Croft net. Bassett four up and making it look very easy.

The first of many subs, Callum M on Josh W off, Arron off and Max is on. Bassett were attacking well placing pressure onto Croft which they could not cope with. Bassett drive the ball into the Croft goal area, and through a much crowded goal mouth some how Tyler connects and hits the back of the net for our fifth. Fraser's new hair cut was working for me looking a little meaner then normal Croft sat back and gives him the space to play a great ball to Ben, Ben shoots for his second, Bassett now six up. The link play between Jake, right back, Arron, Midfield, and Ben right wing was great to watch at times, and placed significant pressure onto the Croft defenders who could not manage the skills. Bassett earn a corner, Jake takes the corner well, Croft clear the ball and it bounces high and away from goal, Scott cracks a volley from a ball above shoulder height, the ball flies goal bound and everyone stops and just watches, but the ball just passes the top corner of the Croft goal.

The second half was the same as the first with Bassett dominating the game, saying that Croft makes a break, but only manage to send a soft shot towards the Bassett goal which Joe saves easily. The combination of Scott and Callum on the left was working well and Callum on many occasions showed his pace as he blasted pass the Croft defenders. Arron was back on, as Tyler was substituted. Max was playing well in the midfield supporting Arron and Fraser, a good pass from Max to Callum allowed Callum to shoot, but the shot was just wide of the goal. Fraser wins the ball in midfield passes the ball to Danny, Danny drives goal bound and drops the ball back to Fraser, Fraser attempts to chip the Croft goal keeper, but the ball is a little over hit and falls onto the net behind the goal. Then Bassett's seventh, Fraser found Ben, Ben took the ball around two Croft players and passed to Arron, Arron shoots and finds the back of the Croft net. Danny was getting stuck in, which was good to see, this was well supported by Max who showed good skills with his feet and head. Bassett were now pushing forward through the backs of Regan and Jack. Sam worked hard to find Bassett's eighth, working the ball well down middle of the park found the space to shoot which finds the back of the net. Regan is off and Fraser is on. Callum M passes to Arron, Arron cracks the ball goal bound, but the Croft goal keeper saves. Max is off and Ben is back on. Jack is off and Scott is on. Danny found himself in front of goal on two occasions but could not find the back of the net. Bassett were awarded a free kick, Jake uses his right foot and delivers a great ball onto the top of Arron, Arron jumps and headers the ball into the back of the net for Bassett's ninth.

Credit must go to Croft who's players never once gave up and just kept on fighting for 60 minutes. This game was just what the doctor ordered after the Wickham game last weekend. Well done to all.
