Maybe next time

Our team approached the game with a realistic view that it was likely to be a Highworth win but that didn′t stop them from throwing themselves into the competition and very nearly succeeding in scoring some goals. The Highworth team however, had a very quick player, who could out run most of the Bassett side (he should do, being a top 100m sprinter! ).

The first half resulted in a 3-0 position against Bassett, this hadn′t really been the result of fabulous play from the other side, just that they were slightly better on three occasions.

We had a number of near misses and can be certain that we pressurised their goal. Consistent play from Craig Hunt and Matt Buckingham helped ensure we retained a good resistance to the attackers.

James Terry had a near miss with a header in the first half, which if it had been successful could have given that uplift required when we entered the second half.

Another five goals went against us after a short break, too cold to stand around for long.

We saw good defending from Craig Kelly and Brett Carr (one terrific header to stop a goal on the goaline). Tyrone obviously frustrated one of the Highworth players who was quite rightly taken off by his manager for some rather petulant behaviour.

All the Bassett side kept their spirits up right to the end, well done, maybe next time.
