Chips all round as points are shared

The Shrivenham ground is an excellent venue for an early evening match, with the local Chinese take-away being able to provide chips for the away supporters to sustain them throughout the encounter. The sunny evening encouraged an optimistic feeling amongst all who watched.

The Bassett side gave 110% in the entire game, with by far the majority of the play being maintained within the Shrivenham end. Disappointedly therefore, for Bassett to concede a goal after fifteen minutes of play. Good efforts from Harry and James Dixon were just not making through the Shriveham defence. Croft managed to generate a scramble in the Bassett goal, sufficient enough to score another with Tyrone desperately trying to defend. James Terry managed to shoot a long one in on goal and brought the score line to a healthier 2-1 at half time.

Basset came out strong in the second half, with the game being within their grasp if only they could continue as they did in the first half. The Basset side kept up their attack on Shrivenham, with many shots from the James′ and Harry not finding their way in. The floodlit final fifteen minutes saw Harry equalize with only minutes to go.

To succeed with a draw when it looked as if we were beaten, meant that Bassett left the pitch with the euphoria of a world cup winning team. An excellent evenings entertainment from both sides deserved thanks from the parents watching. It would hopefully bode well for the weekends match against Croft.
