Bassett make it to semi-finals of County Cup

Todays game was away to Warminster Highbury in the County County Cup Quarter Finals, they have won their league, and also find themselves in 2 cups like ourselves. We knew the game was going to be difficult, and for one reason we have not played in 5 weeks.

The game started with Bassett kicking down a slope so we had to take advantage of this, but as usual we took our time and the first 10 mins we did not control the game as we would of liked, but I think it was down to not playing more than anything, after 10 mins Bassett started to take a slight control of the game with some good passing between Harry , Nick, Seb, Josh and Tom up front.

Bassett had a free kick 20 yards out and Jack stood up to take it,he took it and the ball dropped kindly to Daniel, who shot but cleared off the line and when the ball came back to Jack he cooly lobbed the keeper but the goal was giving offside from the 2 players nearest to the keeper, nothing that jack did wrong.

Great defending from Grant and Jack kept the score all level with fraser at times called upon to either rush out of his area and to make himself big to deney the opposition. Ellis and Cole either side of Jack and Grant were kept busy and at times Cole had me worried, but Ellis had another good game but took him off from all the running he did and with a slight injury he picked up from the other team.

Nick controlling the midfield along with Harry and Daniel started to play well together creating a few chances on the way, and there endless running from all of them contributed to a great win , The goals came the way of Tom 2 who is getting back to his best and his confidence is growing and with Nick popping up time and time again to score another goal in his ever growing list this season.

2nd half started with bassett being 2-0 up ,we knew this was going to be a hard half with the slope , but the boys of Bassett showed there strength and resolve and fought a great game, the defence stood firm, midfield battled with the front holding the ball up,Good all round battle of which the home team contributed to a good game of football.

The wingers of Josh ,Seb and Neil proved over the game that they were on fire, skipping past the players and threading the ball through for our front men to put pressure on there defence. Ryan came on and played his part weaving in and out the defence and getting some great crosses and lay offs .Great team effort well done boys.
