Winning start to the season continues

Today′s game saw the Robins who from last season finnished runners up in their league and with a few players leaving coming into the top flight found this fixture hard going, The team was down to 10 men but kept on plugging away and never gave up which was a credit to them.

Anyway our team still had to do a job and at times outplayed there opponents for the most of the game with Fraser this season still not really been tested did a fantastic job in the sticks to keep concentration, keep going Fraser you will get the man of the match soon.

The game itself was switched from an away fixture to a home fixture as Robins still unable to get their pitch marked out correctly came to us. The game kicked off and Robins were fighting for each ball along with Bassett but the strength and commitment from our boys was never in doubt, 5 mins into the game a good ball was passed out to the wing where Josh picked up the ball and coolly crossed for the ball to come out to Ryan who was waiting on the edge of the area to lob the keeper to make it 1-0 to Bassett.

To be fair this is how the game proceeded throughout the 1st half with attack after attack but Bassett finding it hard at times to break down the 7 players behind the ball. Josh on the right and Seb on the left running down the flanks with little resistance at times crossing the ball for the likes of Tom, Ryan, Nick & Daniel to try and score.

One of the runs Josh made was superb he picked dup the ball just inside the aways half and went down the wing and started to cut into the goal and Josh hit the ball and scored with the shot going in the bottom corner of the diving keepers net.

With the defence of Grant, Harry and Kieran today, was rarely troubled but when required to do so the back 3 coped well with Kieran being MOTM for his hard work and work rate keep going Kieran.

Half time having been and gone Bassett played the ball around a little more with goals coming from a well taken twist and turn from Jack, Nick is in fine form carry on scoring for fun with another 2 goals, Ryan adding another to make 2, and Tom O′Donnell now starting to find the net again with 3 to his name for his efforts today.

The subs of Akash and Bradley today are still finding there way, and are progressing nicely and are contributing well to the team, over the next few weeks/months will find it easier to gel with the positional sense coming as well.

What the team has to do is listen to us the coaches, we must as a team head the ball more, stop the ball at times from bouncing, talk more between us, look at the keeper when he kicks it out from his own 6 yard box if he does not clear it to far lets think about it and close the gap on the next kick, and don′t try to walk the ball into the net!!!!!!!!!!! Lets shoot around the edge of the box you will have far better results.

But saying that well done again to the boys they have played 4 won 4 keep going and October/November will be harder test for you all. WELL DONE!!!!
