Basset came up against a well-drilled Stratton team but did not deserve to lose by the score line. A change in formation with 5 across the midfield frustrated the opposition with Dom Musto, Ben Turner and returning for his first game Chris Mochan all playing well to hold up the play in the middle third of the park, defensively all played well but special mention to Marc Lowther and Adam Blakeman who kept snuffing out attack after attack but never giving in even when we were down in double figures. Curtis Whaymand was an ever present threat up the left side but with lone striker Tom Walkley up front Bassett were never allowed to create as they can do.

Dom Musto with a shot and Curtis with a well-taken header with the Goalkeeper stranded just unable to steer it into the net, gave Bassett some heart in the first half.

The second half started promising and with Dan Bracey coming on for the injured Richie Barratt and Jack Pennie replacing Danny Dhillon (pulled Muscle) gave us a new shape, after loosing a few more goals, a through ball by Dom was picked up by Jack who zeroed in on goal from the right side and shot, only to see the ball flash wide of a beaten Stratton Goalkeeper and wide of the post. This seemed to lift Bassett who then started to control the game for the next 10 minutes or so with the Stratton defence having their hands full. During this period Jack Pennie picked up a ball in midfield and sliding a precision pass to the ever-present Chris Mochan who took the ball on and placed it past the advancing Stratton goalie. (We scored) This again seemed to spur the team on, unfortunately Statton were not going to let us get back into the game that easily and we then lost another few goals, with to cap it all off an own goal by CM. Result 12 – 1.
