Score line does not reflect the performance

A late change in venue and player unavailability meant a trip to Liden with only the bare 11 players, however a shuffle around in the back 4 and midfield gave us the strongest line up available, This was also our first outing in our new strip sponsored by LAWSON DEMOLITION & CRUSHING

The Full time score line does not reflect the game with Bassett going down to an early goal. A new back 4 of Dom Musto Nathin Smith Ben Turner and Richie Barratt did well to prevent a rout and gave the rest of the team a solid platform to work from.

A dubious booking for Ben Turner gave Liden their first real chance in the game with a free kick 20 metres out in a central position, the kick was taken with the wall still positioning itself, 1:0 to Liden. This was the kickstart that Bassett needed and they took control with some deft passing and using the offside rule at the back leaving Liden frustrated at not being able to push forward. A well timed tacked from Dom Musto cleared the ball from a Liden forward inside the area but the referee saw fit to award a penalty, a splendid save from Jason Hudson saw the team finish at half time deservedly only 1:0 down.

The second half belonged to Bassett but we were frustrated at the point of attack by some good Liden defence work. Seb Davies Tom Walkley Dan Lewis and Dan Bracey all having shots on target, but it was not to be, with Bassett having a majority of possession Liden were given few chances, unfortunately with the absence of substitutes and the hot conditions Bassett started to tire, it was then and only then that Liden converted the few chances they were given. The final score 5:0

The team worked well together and gave 100% + well done everyone.
