Good performance to start the season

A good opening performance to the season with both old and new faces gelling into a cohesive unit.

The first half was evenly matched with both teams working hard in very hot conditions. Bassett were resolute in defence and hard working in midfield but lacked the creativity to make clear-cut chances.

The first half ended in an acceptable 0 – 0 score line.

Two substitutions were made at the break a straight swap for a striker and a change in midfield. These changes did not have the required impact and a further substitution and tactical change 10 minutes into the second half did have an almost immediate impact.

Unfortunately this was to the benefit of Brunel Boys who went on to score two very similar goals in close succession against a previously impenetrable back four.

However Bassett reacted well to having being two down, no heads dropped and the team all dug in to conjure up two well-deserved goals in the last eight minutes of time. Dan Wernham on the end of a well worked through ball and a Ben Turner cross hitting the net over the head of the stretching Brunel Goalkeeper

It was an excellent 80-minute team effort from all of the Squad to seal a well deserved 2 – 2 draw but special mention to Jason Hudson, Dominic Musto and Marc Lowther for excellent performances.
