An exceptional, first class team performance from all concerned

An exceptional, first class team performance from all concerned. Everyone worked hard and although we played against quality opposition, we made them look fairly average. The team put everything we have tried to teach them in training, into practice.

Again, we passed well, and had 60% of the possession, and was first to the ball every time. Totally against the run of play, Stratton scored a well finished goal, from a punt into our half. Usually, this sort of thing makes the heads drop, but credit to the team, as they moved up a gear instead of tiling behind. Sam Munton scored our first goal, which was tap in from clause range, that was supplied by Tucker Blinkhorn.

After half time, we again had the majority of possession, and we passed and moved well. Our second goal was absolute class, scored by Jake Gosling. Jake had previously hit the bar and was also denied by the excellent Stratton goalkeeper. Our third and final goal was just as well deserved, and equally as good as Jake's goal, put away by James French. James is playing his best football at the moment and has seen a renewed level of confidence and commitment.

Always difficult to pick a MOM, but James French did stand out and deserves praise for his excellent performance. A special mention for Alec Daley who shared the responsibility of the goal with Dominic Gordon, as Reece Postill was unavailable. Alec made two very timely, and brave saves and also put in a first-class performance in midfield. Next week away to local rivals Purton.

Second game

Wootton Bassett 3 - 0 Stratton Cirencester

Another excellent team performance and we are yet to find a team that has the quality of players, to put up strong opposition in a second game. Should have been a much higher score line, as we created many good goalscoring opportunities. Goals scored by lan Hunt and Ben Taylor. Another fine performance from all players, special mention and MOM goes to new player Adam Topping. Excellent game to watch, and some great saves pulled off by Ashley Windle, who made a fine save from a penalty.
