Poor first half showing

Our second league game, and one I thought was going to be less competitive (we won 6-0 when we met months ago), but Cricklade powered into a three-goal lead within 10 minutes, and this really frustrated the team, and we never recovered. We did play our usual passing game, but once again squandered at least 6 goal scoring opportunities in the first half which finished 0-5. One lesson was learnt, we cannot have two key players missing from the team, and expect a good result, against any team. Collectively we never made any tackles and allowed Cricklade to run at us.

The second half was much better in terms of performance, but it's so difficult to raise those heads when they are down! In the second half our only goal was scored by Stephen Edwards, which was well taken. Cricklade scored another 2 goals, but again we squandered a handful of chances, and our passion and desire to win was missing.

Second game: Wootton Bassett 7 Cricklade Youth 0

A complete reversal of the first game and an excellent team performance. Five goals from Ben Taylor and a fantastic performance from new team member James Lownds, who tackled everyone in sight, and never allowed Cricklade a single shot on goal all game.
