Despite missing some key players Bassett pick up a good win

With two key players not available again, we were not expecting a win. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the commitment, effort and passion the team showed from start to finish. We had the majority of possession in the first half, with an excellent debut from new player James Lownds, who makes up with enthusiasm, what he lacks in experience. We had three good opportunities to score, and was frustrated by their goalkeeper, both James French and Dominic Gordon were very unlucky not to score. Marlborough played very well, and they had some good spells, but they was halted in attack by some excellent defending from Tucker Blinkhorn and James Lownds.

In the second half, we did not keep our shape as well, but ironically we scored two excellent goals, from some great build up work from Alec Daley, Brett Fairclough and James French. Both goals were scored by Dominic Gordon who was the man of the match, not for scoring, but simply because he never stopped all game, and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. A very encouraging team effort, and a couple of points to note, all players at the end of the game were red faced and sweating, something that was not evident in the last home defeat, and we tackled hard and chased every ball, and never allowed Marlborough to dominate.
