Bassett lose game but encouraging performance

A defeat in terms of result, but victory in terms of performance and game play. We were a very disappointed to have not scored after having 80% of the play, most of that in Blunsdon's half of the pitch. A handful of chances in the first half, and it seemed one of those days when we couldn't find the back of the net. Excellent performance from Sam Munton who was by far the best player on the pitch, and Dominic Gordon, Brett Fairclough and James French. Best chance of the game fell to Dominic, who skillfully beat the keeper, but his shot rebounded of the inside of the post to roll straight across the goal. Both Blunsdon goals scored on the break, totally against the run of play. Their first being a cross into the box, that somehow managed to sneak inside the near post. The second goal was a optimistic lob from just past the half way line, which finished the game off. Two excellent free kicks from Oliver Stevens and Sam Munton, both shaving the bar. Credit to the team, they never gave up and James French again skimmed the crossbar in the last few minutes of the game. Next week at home to Cricklade.
