Bath final day defeat

The Under 13s travelled to Bath City for their final game of the season in the hope of claiming three points and a spot in the top three in the Division One table.

Things weren't looking positive from the start when defender Tia Campbell was withdrawn from the match with a sprained ankle. We are wishing her a speedy recovery.

Bath came out strong in the first half, whereas Bassett didn't make the best start and conceded to Bath's first attack in just five minutes.

Things went downhill from here on and the Blues found themselves conceding another two goals in quick succession, despite some great saves from goalkeeper Ella Oates.

The girls lost confidence and Bath capitalised on this, scoring a flurry of easy goals.

Somehow, a deflated Bassett found themselves six down at half time.

Although there seemed no hope of winning the game now, the team treated the second half like a new match and came out fighting.

Their hard work and energy paid off when they got a well-deserved goal. Christina Croft drove down the right wing, dribbled around the keeper and slotted the ball home.

The away side were dominating and looking more themselves.

It seemed harsh for Bath to score two late goals to seal off their win, particularly as Bassett had been the better side in the second half.

Player of the match went to Ella for a fantastic performance in goal and up front.

The Under 13s have their Holland tour to look forward to next week. Good luck, girls!
