The Under 13 Girls had their toughest game of the season yet on Saturday against a strong Blunsdon side.
Whoever won this match would determine who topped the table.
Bassett were solid for the first 15 minutes, but Blunsdon fired a couple shots into the top corner, going 2-0 up in a matter of minutes.
However, the Blues fought back and Christina Croft drove down the pitch, showing great strength in beating the defender, before lifting the ball up and over the keeper.
At 2-1, Bassett were back in it. This gave all the players a sense of hope. But they were unlucky to concede a late goal before half time.
The second half was hard, with strong gales making the ball difficult to control.
Blunsdon bagged three more goals due to some defensive mistakes, but keeper Ella Oates displayed some outstanding saves to keep Bassett in the game.
The match finished 6-1, but the score didn't really reflect the game as every single player battled hard and didn't give up.
The Blues were the first team in the league to score against Blunsdon and should be proud of themselves.
Player of the match went to Ella, who made some incredible saves and showed great determination.
Unlucky, girls, keep your heads up. Onto a cup game next week.
