Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18s made it thirteen games unbeaten in the Wiltshire League Floodlit Division with a thumping 7-0 win at home against Melksham Town.

Flynn Walters led the way with a hat trick while Euan Spackman (2), Joe Beavis and Rhys Westlake were also on target.

Three goals in the first 20 minutes put Bassett in the ascendancy.

Westlake put them ahead on ten minutes tucking away a low ball in from Walters.

Spackman then doubled the home side's lead with a spectacular shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later Walters made it 3-0 after a defence splitting pass from Joey Warren.

Any chance of a Melksham comeback was ended within a minute of the start of the second half when Spackman scored his second of the game.

Beavis then made it 5-0, lifting the ball over the keeper from a central position on the edge of the box.

With five minutes remaining the home side were awarded a penalty which Walters put away for 6-0.

And a fine individual goal from the same player in the last minute of the match rounded off a good night for the young striker as he completed his hat-trick.

Next up for Bassett is a crucial first against second clash away at Kintbury Rangers on Monday.

Another victory will see Bassett go seven points clear at the top. But with Kintbury still possessing a game in hand, Bassett need to extend their unbeaten run as a defeat will see Rangers close the gap to a single point.

With a lot on the line, Monday's match promises to be a thriller.
