Comeback But Bassett Drop Points

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18s came from behind to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against Warminster Town.

The form book went out of the window as Town completely dominated the first half of this Under 18 Floodlight Division fixture.

They took the lead on twenty-five minutes when from a free kick Joe Wilkins was picked out in the left side of the penalty area. His left foot strike gave Bassett keeper Finlay Cranswick-Coates no chance.

On the stroke of half time Cole Parmley doubled Warminster's lead. Bassett only half cleared a cross into the box and Parmley volleyed the ball into the roof of the net.

Warminster also struck the bar and the post and the damage could have been even worse than the 2-0 deficit at half time.

Nick Warren's half time team talk seemed to do the trick as Bassett came out for the second half and quicky pulled a goal back just two minutes after the restart after poor defending allowed a close range shot from Euan Packman that gave Warminster keeper Thomas Jones no chance.

Bassett were much better in the second half but failed to create any clear cut chances and it looked like Warminster would hold onto the lead and take all three points.

Then in the 86th minute Bassett were awarded a free kick wide on the left. The cross into the box from Fin Smith evaded any of the Bassett strikers but went into the net off a Warminster defender at the far post to level matters up at 2-2, with the teams having to settle for a point apiece.
