Another big win over Fairford

Basset came away with a well deserved and much needed 10 - 1 win against a Fairford side who struggled to compete against a very organised Basset team.

Bassett opened the scoring within sixty seconds of the start and this set the tempo for the rest of the game.

Bassett played some excellent one touch football on a pitch that was in remarkable condition for the time of year. Regardless of Basset scoring on a regular basis the midfield and defence remained alert and organised which prevented Fairford from getting within striking distance of the basset goal. The only goal for Fairford coming from a goal mouth scramble following a corner. We had set out to keep a clean sheet and the disappointment was obvious on the lads faces for conceding such a soft goal.

It was nice to see Jason Hudson ( Goalkeeper) with very little to in a season which has seen the majority of action in our eighteen yard box. There were many good performance on the day namely Danny Dillon, Rob Curtis, Ben Turner, and Marc Lowther. But the man of the match has to go to Michael Yates who scored a hat trick and claimed the chocolate.

At half time Clive, McDaid came on for Robb Kerr and Luke Wakelam came on for Nathan Taylor. Richie Payne came on after a further 10 minutes for Jack Pennie, all three of the lads fitted in well and the organisation and structure established in the first half remained in tact.

The best goal of the game came from a Richie and Luke combination with Richard outing over a superb cross from the right hand side for Luke to volley into the back of the net 'Sweet as a nut'
