Bassett pulled off their first win of this campaign in a game of 2 halves; realistically Bassett should have been at least 4 up by half time after playing some good football against a fairly resolute Brunel defence. The deadlock was broken on the half hour by an opportunist strike from 30 yards by Captain Jason Hudson playing out of goal this week. Shortly after, a through ball by Tom Walkley put Mike Yates in on the left of the area Mike then despatched the ball past the oncoming Brunel keeper.

In the second half with the wind Brunel threw everything forward and were rewarded with an own goal deflected in from a low hit cross.

Bassett then created their own pressure but were unable to crack the Brunel defence again. In a very tight last 10 minutes Basset did well to withstand the Brunel attack and came out worthy winners.
