Celebrating Success: North Wilts League U13 Division 4 Runners-Up

Monday 18th May 2026

Delivering when the pressure was at its highest, Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Yellow won a final game decider to clinch runners-up spot in the 2025-26 North Wilts League Division Four.

Capping a fine campaign with honours, Bassett beat rivals for second spot Ashton Keynes Panthers 3-1 in their final match to leapfrog their opponents - and avenge a 6-2 loss suffered earlier in the season.

Cup action meant Bassett were playing catch up from the off. They played just two league games before the end of October - both of which were wins against Wroughton Youth Wolves (4-3) and Pewsey Vale (6-2).

A pair of draws followed at home against Ferndale Rodbourne Reds (2-2) and Pewsey (5-5), but a 4-1 victory against Liden Community Lightning made it five unbeaten.

That streak was snapped by eventual champions Croft Junior Blue who edged a win by the odd goal in five.

Yet Bassett rebounded well, seeing off Cirencester Town (2-0) and Wroughton (4-2) before draws with FC Abbey Meads Youth Purple (1-1) and Ferndale (2-2).

There followed the 6-2 loss to Ashton Keynes though - a result that left Bassett three points behind their rivals having played a game more.

Four straight wins - including three on the road in which Bassett did not concede - kept alive hopes of finishing runners-up. Liden (3-0), Cirencester (2-0) and FC Abbey Meads (1-0) were all beaten away from home before a 3-1 triumph at home against DC Youth Dynamos.

A 2-2 draw with DC Youth and 5-1 home defeat against Croft came next. Thankfully for Bassett though, Ashton Keynes fell into a deeper rut that turned their final game of the season into a decider.

And Bassett delivered to seal second.
