The constitution for the 2022-23 South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division has been confirmed following the league's Annual General Meeting, which was held at the weekend.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town will be entering their fourth season in the division, having finished sixth in 2021-22 – the first full campaign Bassett's Women's side completed at level five of the women's football pyramid as a consequence of the pandemic.
For the forthcoming season, Bassett will be one of ten sides competing in the division. And there has been a significant degree of change, with four teams joining and four moving out as a result of promotion and relegation.
2021-22 champions AFC St Austell have been promoted into the FA Women's National League Division One South West, with Poole Town moving in the opposite direction after a difficult campaign saw them finish bottom. The Dolphins are returning to the South West Regional Women's League after five seasons playing at level four.
Also joining the division are Bristol Rovers, Liskeard Athletic and Warminster Town – the respective champions of the South West Regional Women's League's three level five divisions.
Rovers lost just one game as they claimed the Northern Division title in their first season at level five.
Cornish side Liskeard edged out Plymouth Argyle Under 23s to claim the Western Division title by five points in 2021-22.
Meanwhile, Warminster – who knocked Bassett out of the Wiltshire Women's Cup at the quarter final stage on penalties before eventually making the final – were Northern Division champions in their first season at level five after having gained promotion from County League football.
That trio of sides replace Bideford, Marine Academy Plymouth and Middlezoy Rovers who all move down a level.
