Hunter appointed first team manager

Royal Wootton Bassett Town are pleased to announce the appointment of Rich Hunter as first team manager. He will be supported by Derek Hamilton, who takes up the position of Head Coach.

The move has seen the club opt for continuity in the wake of the resignation of Paul Braithwaite and assistant manager Chris Green ten days ago.

Hunter joined the club in the summer of 2015, serving as a member of the former manager's coaching staff, while Hamilton has been with Bassett since pre-season, when he was initially brought on board as fitness coach.

Commenting on the appointment, Bassett Chairman Andy Walduck said: "This move offers continuity from pre-season for the first team."

"Rich and Derek are both very capable and have a lot of support and respect from the playing team and the committee, so there is no need to look outside of the club to fill the vacancy on this occasion."

"Again, I would like to thank Paul and Chris for their commitment to the club over the last two seasons, specifically taking the club through the final year of the groundshare, which presented many operational issues and was managed successfully. The club wishes Paul and Chris all the very best for the future."

"Now is the time to add stability to the first team and the senior section as a whole, forging links between all three men's senior sides, which is key to our future success."
