A 4-2 home victory against AFC Aldermaston saw Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18s make it six games unbeaten in the Wiltshire League Floodlit Division.

Bassett led 1-0 at the break as Kevin Prouse lost his marker and headed home from a perfectly weighted free kick.

But the visitors got back on level terms shortly after the restart. Aldermaston were able to sustain an attack and a snap shot from the edge of the area found the bottom corner.

In a tight contest, the score remained tied going into the final twenty minutes. However, two goals in a four minute spell from Bassett proved decisive.

The first came after Bassett snuffed out the Aldermaston 'keeper's attempt at launching a quick counter attack. The ball was then quickly worked into the final third and Jowan Partridge beat the 'keeper to the punch to bravely head the home side back in front.

Another forced turnover of possession inside Aldermaston territory was then crucial in setting up Bassett for their third. Charlie Stammers easily won an aerial battle as Aldermaston put the ball back into play from a throw in before a through ball was played into the path of James Johnson, who coolly lifted over the onrushing 'keeper.

The visitors pulled a goal back to make things interesting. However, Johnson settled any nerves with a low finish from inside the box.
