Well, what an absolutely fabulous start to the New Year!!!!!!!

1ST HALF Within 5 minutes of the game, we were 2-0 up, with stunning goals from both Dylan & Tom (I don't think LYB knew what had hit them). There was a real force up front of Tom, Callum & Dylan – aided well by a midfield of DJ (with new boots) who were determined to fire as many shots into the goal as possible. There were several near misses, which caused the crowded sidelines to sound like they were watching a firework display!!. Then Dylan scored a 2nd goal – he was on fire. The opposition fought back and took the ball back up to their end of the pitch where Sid & the defense wall of James & Nav were ready and waiting. Then Dec & Josh came on in place of DJ & James and there was a good run down the left wing by Dec, who also passed a good corner cross to Tom, who narrowly missed scoring his 2nd goal at that time. Then the opposition took a gamble and one of their team defended the goal by kicking back towards their keeper, who saved it, but unfortunately wasn't ready for the stealth of Tom, who fired in his 2nd goal of the game. Again LYB fought back and the pressure was on Sid to save the goal (which he did).

Half time and we were 4-0 up!!

2ND HALF Lydiard came back on a stronger team in the 2nd half. Although the ball was invariable up in our area, their defense were determined not to let us score another goal, although the goal keeper was put under considerable pressure from Tom & Dec. James then went into goal to allow Sid time on the pitch. Tom made a good run up the pitch but their goal keeper was determined not to let him have another goal. During this half, the team really showed their passing skills and there were a couple of really good passes, especially between Sid & Callum, again Lydiard's goal keeper was determined no more goals were going in his net. James was then put under pressure in goal but made a beautifully controlled “save” kick and the ball was back up in our area. DJ then had a very near miss at goal. Then Dylan got the all deserved hat trick – the goal keeper had saved the first shot, but Dylan was there waiting for the rebound and fired it into the goal!!

To be fair to Lydiard, they didn't give up. Their goal keeper had several saves to make, the two that come to mind are from Sid and Josh, both putting a lot of pressure behind that kick to ensure it reached the goal, but all credit to the keeper, they didn't go in

And so, we ended the game 5-0 winners. The team played really well and I have to admit I had a lot of help with the report writing this week and feel I should name; Mrs Warren, Mrs Moody & Mr Deegan who provided such excellent feedback!!
