Sunday 13th September 2009 - Highworth Town (A)

In the first game of the 2009/10 season, WBTFC Girls U13's played Highworth away at Northfield School on Sunday 13 September. The teams were evenly matched making for an exciting game. With all WBTFC players available, initially at least, the starting line up of Shannon Furey in goal, Amie Menzies and Felicity Talbot in defence, Ellie Kaye, Chloe Willis and Katie Rae in midfield and Julia Cooke up front began strongly creating a number of chances in the opening 10 minutes. Felicity who was not feeling well was replaced by Hannah at the back.

The Highworth team scored after 20 mins but this was met with an excellent equaliser from Amy Mathews (who came on as a sub) following a great corner from Chloe Willis in the 30th minute. Despite some confident and decisive goalkeeping from Shannon and excellent midfield play by Ellie throughout the game, Highworth scored again 3 minutes later bringing the score at half time to 2-1.

The girls played with more confidence in the second half, creating a number of good chances and their determination was rewarded 15 minutes in, with a good run and lovely goal from Chloe Willis, bringing the final score to 2-2.
