Thursday 16 October 2008 - Highworth Town (H)

After a good team performance last week unfortunately the team did not continue on from there.

The boys should have been up for this game it being a local derby, but for some reason they weren't, we started of well keeping shape playing the the ball down the left with Dane Moulden and Nathan Sarahs playing good one two's, and Sarahs getting the ball into the box but for only David Bray and Matty Buckingham missing their chances.

With Moulden playing well in defence getting the ball down and playing it out to the wide men, we could have took the lead in the 23 minute with a good ball from Moulden to John Turner who knocked it down the line to Josh Rutley, who then played it back to Turner to pass it onto Craig Kelly to pass it on to Bray fro him to miss the chance.

It wasn't until the 27th minute when a long kick from Ryan McCarthy took the Highworth defence by surprise they cleared the ball only for Rutley to get it on the right, he took on his man delivered a good ball into the box, were Kelly was waiting on the edge of the box to convert the clearance which gave the keeper no chance 1-0.

Highworth came at us to which we defended well, in the 40th minute we gave a silly corner away then pick up or stick to their men and Highworth levelled the score 1-1 with their tails up Highworth finished the half with the upper hand.

Highworth started the second half as they finished the first by putting pressure on our defence, to which the defence of Moulden Turner James Skinner and George Bartlett delt well with the pressure.

Then came the turning point off the game we conceded a corner.

With poor marking not staying with their players we conceded a goal on the hour,1-2.

We then seemed to pick our self's up by playing football again getting the ball down and getting it out wide to Rutley and Sarahs, and it payed off in the 60th minute with a good ball from Turner to switch the play to Sarahs down the left drilled it into Skinner in midfield to get a free kick on the edge of the box, Skinner got up placed the ball and found the net with a well taken free kick.

Then straight away Highworth broke straight down the middle for them to score the third and final goal of the game 2-3.

The boys tried to dig in and get another goal back but couldn't manage it so a disappointing night for the lads but a lesson learned.
