After a hard game on Tuesday back to league fixtures with a tough game away to Amesbury Town.
With a few changes to the squad from injures and resting players Bassett started off well with Josh Rutley making his league debut he got to work straight away down the right side taking on the Amesbury's defence with good crosses in for Craig Kelly to open the scouring on 6 minutes, with giving Amesbury no time to get their foot on the ball they closed them down vary quickly and again some good link up play with John Turner and Rutley down the right Tyrone Connolly got a early birthday present by getting the next on the 20th minute with Amesbury getting back into the game they had a shot well saved by Ryan McCarthy who gave the ball quickly to Turner who passed it onto Craig Kelly who moved it to Rutley who took it on to the by-line to knock it back to the edge of the box for Joe Blackford to score a volley in 29 minutes Amesbury couldn't deal with the pace of Rutley on the right and with some good over lapping play from Turner came close to scoring again but for a good save from the keeper.
Started the same as we finished the first with a lot of position Bassett played some good keep ball but with some bad tackles coming in from Amesbury we made some changes with Sam Jackson going into midfield for Kelly, and James Dixon coming on for Tyrone Connolly we settled down a bit and played some good football again down both flanks, the next goal came in the 60 minute from a deflected shoot from Turner who's claiming the goal before coming off injured with Brett Carr Coming on after a long lay off with injury at right back.
Amesbury put some pressure on defence and some good takes from McCarthy to quickly throw it out to Carr to knock it onto Peter Sykes to take on the defence to get a corner, from which David Bray got the 5th goal in the 86 minute to finish on a high.
After a hard week of football the lads deserved this win final score: Amesbury Town 1 Wootton Bassett Town 5
