Bassett U11 progress in league cup

Today′s game against Croft B was a second round cup match and Bassett came away 10 nil winners, but at times it was not as the score line suggested. Bassett started off too slow for my liking and the boys need to step it up another gear to continue there unbeaten start to the season of playing 8 won 8 in all competitions.

The pitch was heavy today with the weather we have had, and at times it showed with the ball not travelling at times the whole distance and stopping in the goalmouth area.

To be fair Croft only ventured into our half a couple of times in the first and 2nd half and when required Fraser made a good save by coming off his line, and eventually played on pitch today which made him smile.

The Croft keeper played very well today and made some great saves, along with his handling was a credit to him, Bassett had chance after chance but the shots were either going just wide or the linesman kept flagging up for some reason, some fair ones and some laughable ones, but that′s football.

Nick took the first goal of the game out of his hat trick with a cracking shot from 20 yards out to break the defence and keeper, and within a few minutes Bassett scored again through another shot but the keeper could not collect and in came Ryan for his first of 3 today as well.

By half time Bassett went in 5 nil up but could have been more, the play was quite good at times with Daniel getting more and more into the games now feeling his confidence grow and you could see that and his physical side showed today as well.

With the goals coming now Bassett started to feel comfortable, goals taken by Ryan 3, Nick 3, Harry endless running 2, and MOTM, Tom 1 and Cole scoring as well you could see the smile for ages.

Neil′s birthday today and he tried and tried to score but was not his day he covered a lot of ground but just could not finish, but with Tom and seb working well along with Grant, Ellis and Jack at the back the team is starting to come together now, with another good game by AK who is settling in as each goes by.
