A welcome and much deserved first win of the season for the Under 14's following their disappointing result the previous week against Shaw. Bassett dominated the first ten minutes but it was the visitors, against the run of play, who took the lead. Bassett continued to dominate and equalised just before half time through Tom Walkley.

Bassett started the second half in similar fashion and scored two goals in a minute, a Rob Curtis goal being followed by a 30 yard thunderbolt from Dan Bracey. A lob over the keeper from Mark Cox extended the Bassett lead to 4-1. Bassett then sat back on their lead and allowed the visitors back into the game with 2 goals. This gave Bassett a wake-up call and Bassett were able to hold on to the lead and secure all three points.
