Bassett Town cruised to a 6-0 victory against First Division side Finchampstead thanks to a Geoff Swatton hat trick and goals from Danny Clayton, Nick Tooley and Gary Ashford.
Bassett got their game going in the seventh minute when a Gary Ashford ball was neatly put away by Danny Clayton to put Bassett one up.
Danny McCarthy of Finchampstead shot wide after a good counter attack by the away side.
Bassett were looking the better side when, in the 13th minute, Geoff Swatton reacted to a misjudged clearance by Finchampstead 'keeper Stuart Harris and Swatton scored.
Bassett continued to attack the Finchampstead goal and many a time came close to scoring before Geoff Swatton played Gary Ashford through and Ashford replied by scoring in the 39th minute.
Swatton continued to get involved before the break when in the 40th minute he got booked for a dangerous challenge.
Bassett went into the break with a three nil lead after a good first half performance.
At the start of the second half, John Charlton got booked for Finchampstead straight away.
Neither team started off too brightly as both teams made substitutes within the first ten minutes. Bassett brought Nick Tooley on for Rob Day and Finchampstead brought Aaron Gilbert on for John Charlton before Bassett substitute, Nick Tooley, scored from an outstanding ball from the ever-impressive Dave Jones.
Finchampstead made their second change in the 57th minute when Danny Humphreys was replaced by Davyd Bowden.
On the hour mark another Dave Jones ball was latched on to, this time by Geoff Swatton who coolly lobbed Stuart Harris. Bassett then brought Ben Gascoyne on for goal scorer Danny Clayton.
Mark Simpkins had a good chance a few minutes later when he hit wide. Luke Sharps came on for Bassett in the 68th minute replacing Gary Ashford.
Finchampstead then had Danny McCarthy booked in the 75th minute for cheering at referee Matthew Rushton when Rushton gave a decision Finchampstead's way.
Swatton got his hat trick for Bassett four minutes from time when he made his way through the whole Finchampstead defence, despite being tugged at along the way, and neatly put the ball away from close range. After the goal Jeremy Lynch was booked for tugging Swatton.
Bassett continued to attack before the final whistle; Swatton nearly getting a fourth in injury time when he just hit wide. Bassett deserved this victory; despite at times some sloppy defending.
