Royal Wootton Bassett Town have strengthened their squad ahead of the South West Regional Women's Football League season, keeping hold of Millie Powell and Darcy Cox - two of last year's Player of the Year award winners - and capturing the signature of midfielder Elle Scott - a player with significant higher level experience.

'Keeper Powell won Supporters' Player of the Year in 2025-26 with centre half Cox earning the Manager's Player of the Year award. Both are young stars who have already achieved plenty with Bassett, having racked up six awards between them in their fledgling careers.

Scott, meanwhile, is a player with plenty of pedigree who bolsters Bassett's midfield. She arrives from tier five Forest Green Rovers, where she spent the last two seasons, and also possesses FA Women's National League experience from her time with Swindon Town.

All three players will be aiming to play a vital role as James Lally's side seek to return to tier five at the third time of asking.

Profiles of the players are available below.

All three players are available to sponsor for the 2025-26 season for just £50. Millie Powell (Goalkeeper)

Powell is a highly talented goalkeeper entering her fifth season in senior football. She has great shotstopping ability and is also confident with the ball at her feet.

Powell first claimed the Bassett number one jersey early in the 2021-22 season and has never looked back. That year she featured sixteen times while earning both the Players' Player and Manager's Player of the Year awards for her excellent performances. Powell went on to make another 22 appearances in 2022-23, starting all but three games. Powell made a further 23 appearances in 2023-24 before keeping eight clean sheets in 26 games last season and earning the Supporters' Player of the Year award. Powell also scored her first goal in Bassett colours, netting in an outfield appearance as a substitute in the Wiltshire County Cup victory against Staverton Rangers.

Darcy Cox (Defender)

Cox is a talented young centre back entering her third season with Bassett after joining from Swindon Town. A physical player who isn't afraid of a strong challenge, Cox can also handle pacey attackers while also being a handful going forward herself.

Since signing she has performed strongly for Bassett, picking up three player of the year awards. Featuring 23 times in all competitions, Cox was Bassett's leading outfield appearance maker in 2023-24 and went on to claim a Players' and Supporters' Player of the Year double. Last season she featured 26 times and earned the Manager's Player of the Year prize. A member of Swindon's 2021-22 Under 16 Wiltshire County Girls' League double-winning side, Cox first progressed into senior women's football in 2022-23, appearing 18 times for Swindon's Development side before joining Bassett

Elle Scott (Midfielder)

Scott is an experienced midfielder who joins Bassett this season. She made her breakthrough in senior football with Swindon Town in 2017-18. Primarily featuring for their Development side, Scott also made ten first team appearances in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division.

She then had a spell at university in the USA, playing at Missouri Valley College. After returning to the UK, Scott played ten further times for Swindon in 2022-23 before spending the last two seasons with Forest Green Rovers in the South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division, scoring five goals in 35 games.
