Jack's the Ace as Under 13 Blues trump Marlborough

Tuesday 15th December 2020

A hard-fought 2-1 victory against Marlborough Youth for Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Blue sees them challenge high-placed opponents in North Wilts League Division Two.

A really impressive brace from Brandon Jack earned the Blues three point away from home. They now sit comfortably in sixth place – and are potentially within striking distance of the sides immediately above them so will be hoping to push on further in the coming weeks.

Elsewhere, an 8-1 scoreline saw the Under 18s walk away from Blunsdon with three deserved points, and a hearty goal difference to brag. Goals from Harry Farrow (2), James Johnson (2), Adam Jones (2), Nathaniel Bell and Tom Warren led Bassett to the victory. They sit fourth in Divison One, with only two points separating them from second place.

A heartbreaking 6-5 loss on penalties denied the U15 Blue team a place in the third round of the Wiltshire County Cup. Lydiard Youth Hammers walked away victorious after the tight 0-0 draw. A good performance from the U15s left them gutted. However, they can now focus on the league, where they are in contention for promotion into Division One.

Home advantage for Cricklade Youth saw them just edge past Bassett's U13 Yellows with a 2-1 victory. Crickade's first points of the season denied the Yellows a well-deserved point on their return to the pitch. The Yellows sit fourth in Division Four, with ten points from six games so far.

Meanwhile, the Under 16 Yellows could not seek revenge against league leaders FC Calne Hurricanes, losing 2-1 at home after a 1-0 defeat against the same side last week. The result leaves Bassett fifth in Division Three, only four points away from second.

The Under 14 Blues slipped three points behind the leaders in Division Two, with a 3-1 loss away from home against Stratton Juniors Bears. Finlay Hyde scored for the Under 14, picking up his seventh goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Blues could not find a couple more goals, coming home empty handed against very good opposition.

The Under 16 Blues' clash with Ferndale Rodbourne YCFC resulted in a 3-0 loss. A good Bassett performance did not result in any points against the third-place side in Division Two. The Blues now sit 7th in the division.

The Under 12s fell to a 9-1 home defeat to top of the league Draycott FC Sparks. The Yellows battled hard, and were rewarded with a goal scored by William Moreton. However, his strike was not enough and leaves the Yellows eighth in Division Four.

Finally, the Under 14 Yellows could not register their first points of the season, falling victim to a 5-0 loss at home to Lydiard Millicent Juniors. It was another harsh scoreline for the Yellows and leaves them bottom still in Division Four. But they will be hoping to turn this around next weekend against FC Abbey Meads Youth Blue.
